Bristol's Long Story of Faith
Bristol Cathedral began life in 1140 as the abbey of St Augustine and became a cathedral in 1542. It is celebrated as a "hall church", in which the choir and its aisles rise to the same height, filling the east end with light. Across the harbour, St Mary Redcliffe is so grand that Queen Elizabeth I is said to have called it the fairest and goodliest parish church in England, and William Hogarth painted a vast three-panel altarpiece for it in the 1750s. On the hill at Clifton, the Catholic Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, consecrated in 1973, takes a strikingly modern approach to sacred space.
The city also has a special place in the story of Methodism. John Wesley's New Room in Broadmead, built in 1739, is the oldest Methodist chapel in the world, and the open-air preaching of Wesley and George Whitefield to the miners of Kingswood is part of the region's history. From medieval stone to twentieth-century concrete, Bristol shows how many forms Christian art and architecture can take.
Picking the Right Print for the Right Room
With a new artwork published every day, the choice can feel large. It helps to start with the kind of message you want on the wall.
Scripture-led pieces
Each of these is anchored to a Bible verse, quoted in the King James Version. They suit studies, hallways and bedrooms, and they make natural gifts. Browse the scripture art collection.
Symbolic pieces
The cross, the dove, the open Bible, the shepherd, praying hands, the ichthus, a wheat sheaf or chalice and bread: these images speak without words and sit well in church halls, prayer rooms and shared spaces.
Seasonal pieces
Released only in season, these follow the Christian year from Advent and Christmas through Lent, Holy Week and Easter to Pentecost.
Each theme appears across a range of styles, including Sacred Iconography, Baroque Religious Art, Christian Folk Art and Christian Abstract Art, so a Georgian sitting room in Clifton and a new-build in Stoke Gifford can each find something that fits.
Bristol Churches, Schools and Chaplaincies
Churches across the city use our prints to refresh welcome areas, noticeboards and children's rooms without a big budget. Sunday school leaders and teachers at Christian schools find A4 prints useful for introducing a Bible story, and chaplaincies in hospitals, universities and workplaces choose quieter pieces for reflection rooms. Many congregations like to change displays with the liturgical seasons, echoing the purple of Advent and Lent or the white and gold of Christmas and Easter used in many traditions. Our page on art for the liturgical year offers practical ideas for planning a year of displays.
Getting a Print Made in Bristol
We are an online-only shop, so nothing arrives by post from us. Instead, the moment you pay by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or PayPal, your files are ready to download, with an email containing the links as a back-up. You receive a print-ready PDF, with optional 3 mm bleed and crop marks, and a high-resolution JPEG, both at 300 DPI and without the watermark shown on website previews.
- At home: a quality inkjet and good photo paper are ideal for A5 and A4. Always print at actual size.
- At a print shop: Bristol's independent printers, photo labs and copy shops can print on heavier fine-art stock, and university and library print services are another option.
- By print-on-demand: a UK service such as Prodigi can print on archival paper, frame the result and deliver it.

When a Gift Needs to Say a Little More
Baptisms, first communions, confirmations, weddings and ordinations are moments people want to remember, and a framed print can stay on a wall for decades. After a loss, a gentle verse or a simple image of light can offer comfort when conversation is difficult. Buying several pieces at once brings an automatic bundle discount of up to 10%, which helps when a church is buying gifts for a whole confirmation group. See our suggestions for Christian prints to give as gifts.
Our Approach, Plainly Stated
We create every piece digitally with AI image-generation tools, guided by carefully written, scripture-led prompts and by the visual traditions of Christian art. Each image is reviewed, cropped to exact paper sizes and prepared for print. We do not claim the work is hand-painted, and we would rather you knew exactly what you are buying. Working this way also lets us publish a new piece every day and have fresh artwork ready as each season of the church year begins.
"Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it." Psalm 127:1 (KJV)

Questions from Bristol
Are you based in Bristol?
No. Christian Artists is an online shop serving customers across the UK, including every part of Bristol, from Clifton to Kingswood. We do not have a shop, studio or office in the city. Instead, your artwork arrives as an instant download, ready to print at home, at a print shop or through a print-on-demand service.
What exactly do I receive when I buy a print?
Each purchase includes a print-ready PDF, with optional 3 mm bleed and crop marks for professional printers, and a high-resolution JPEG. Both are prepared at 300 DPI in your chosen size, A5 or A4, and both are free of the watermark shown on the website. Download links appear immediately and are emailed to you too.
Can our church use the prints for seasonal displays?
Yes. Many churches build displays around the Christian year, and our seasonal pieces for Advent, Christmas, Lent, Holy Week, Easter and Pentecost are released as each season begins. Scripture-led and symbolic prints can fill the weeks in between. Buying several prints at once brings an automatic bundle discount of up to 10%.
How are the artworks created?
Each piece is created digitally using AI image-generation tools, guided by carefully written prompts rooted in scripture and in traditional Christian art styles. Every image is then reviewed, cropped to exact paper sizes and prepared for print. We are clear about this process because we want customers to know exactly what they are buying.
Can I print larger than A4?
Our files are prepared specifically for A5 and A4 at 300 DPI, which gives crisp results at those sizes. Enlarging beyond A4 may reduce sharpness, especially in fine detail. For a bigger presence on a church wall, you could group several A4 prints together, which looks striking and keeps every image sharp.
